Frequently Asked Questions

I made a movie that lasts 3 minutes and 32 seconds. Do I have to make it shorter ?

Not necessarily. Send us your movie as it is and we’ll see if it has the potential of a very short movie, instead of the 32 extra seconds. Attention, we don’t accept movies that last more than 4 minutes. If you produce a new movie, try to respect the limit of 3 minutes. You’ll see that this will force you to be more creative. Some movies do not last more than 2 minutes and they are fabulous.

I made 30 very short movies. Can I send them all?

You can register as many movies as you want, but you have to fill in a registration form for each one. You will find this form in the section “Rules” or send an e-mail to trescourt@ccfcluj.ro. The movies can be on the same DVD.

I would like to send a very short movie that I have produced in august 1975. Is the production date a problem?

We prefer if the film is not older than 2 years, and it must be produced in Romania. If the movie was made more than 3 years ago or it participated in all the festivals and it was broadcasted on TV, this fact can be taken into consideration when the selection will be made.

How should I send the movie?

Send your movie on a DVD at the French Institute in Cluj-Napoca, str. I.C.Bratianu, nr. 22,cod 400079 Cluj-Napoca or bring it yourself with the register form. The French Institutes in Iasi and Timisoara are also collection centers for the Tres Courts Romanian competition.

I have filmed 2 minutes with my cat, Mitzi, while she was purring on the couch. Are you interested?

Don’t hesitate to show your creation to some people outside of your family. If they have a positive reaction, then we’ll be waiting for you to send us the movie. We do not guarantee that it will be selected, but it will surely be examined attentively.

What is the deadline of registering the movies in the festival?

All the movies must be sent either at Cluj or in Timisoara or Iasi until 9 March 2012.

How are the winning movies selected?

The winning movies are selected by a jury form by professionals of cinema from all over the country. The most appreciated movie will win the Jury Prize. Also, at every projection, the audience is invited to vote its favorites. The most voted movie will win the Audience Prize. This two wining movies will be submitted in the international competition 2013 held in Paris.
